Kokcha News Agency – The Taliban Foreign Minister spoke on Sunday at a graduation ceremony for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Institute of Diplomacy, stating that the Taliban seeks engagement with the U.S. and other countries but will not accept the military presence of any country in Afghanistan.
Official Taliban sources released two versions of Amir Khan Muttaqi’s speech, showing a clear difference in the tone of the Foreign Minister. In the video text of Muttaqi’s speech, Trump’s statements about Bagram Airfield are described as “based on little information,” implying Trump lacks sufficient information about China’s presence and the nature of the Taliban’s relationship with China.
However, on the Al-Emara website, an official and verified Taliban news website, Muttaqi’s statements are harsher, calling Trump’s statements “baseless,” stating: “It is surprising that in today’s advanced world, with all the information resources available, such grand but baseless claims are made. This statement has no basis.”
Trump has repeatedly claimed that China controls Bagram Airfield, stating that if he were in the White House, he would not abandon Bagram Airfield, which he said is close to Chinese nuclear facilities.
The Taliban Foreign Minister said that “President Trump should listen to this truth carefully, and other countries should also know that we are for engagement, but political, diplomatic, and economic engagement; not engagement based on military presence.”
Muttaqi said that the Taliban is pursuing a balanced foreign policy and broad relations with all countries.
