Over Half of Israeli Jews Surveyed Say Gaza Famine and Humanitarian Crisis “Does Not Bother Them”
A recent survey by the Israel Democracy Institute reveals that more than half of Israeli Jews are not disturbed by the famine and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, despite the ongoing suffering of Palestinians.
Kokcha News Agency – A survey conducted by the Israel Democracy Institute (IDI) has found that over 55% of Israeli Jews are not bothered by the famine and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where more than 61,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed. The survey, which sampled Jewish Israelis, also revealed that 78% of respondents believe the Israeli military is making efforts to avoid harming Palestinian civilians in Gaza, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
When asked about the famine and starvation in Gaza, which has been exacerbated by Israel’s blockade and restrictions on humanitarian aid, more than 55% of participants stated that they were “not at all bothered” by the situation.
This survey follows another poll conducted last month in which more than half of Israeli Jews claimed that “there is no famine in Gaza,” despite reports from international organizations and local authorities confirming widespread starvation and malnutrition.
Gaza’s Humanitarian Crisis:
The Gaza Strip, under relentless Israeli bombardment and a strict blockade that limits access to food, water, medicine, and hygiene supplies, is experiencing a catastrophic humanitarian crisis. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 193 Palestinians, including 96 children, have died from starvation since October 7, 2023.
Local and international observers have accused Israel of using “hunger and thirst as weapons” in its ongoing conflict with Gaza. The blockade has left the population of over 2 million people, half of whom are children, in dire conditions, with limited access to basic necessities.
International Condemnation:
The international community has repeatedly condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza, with many organizations accusing the Israeli government of committing war crimes and violating international humanitarian law. The United Nations has warned that Gaza is on the brink of a full-blown famine, with children and the elderly being the most vulnerable.
