Natural Lithium Levels in the Brain May Directly Impact Alzheimer’s Progression
A new study reveals that natural lithium levels in the brain play a critical role in Alzheimer’s progression, with lithium orotate supplements showing potential to rejuvenate brain function and reverse damage.

Kokcha News Agency: A groundbreaking study published in Nature has uncovered that natural lithium levels in the brain may significantly influence the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers from Harvard Medical School, using mice and human brain tissue, found that reduced lithium levels trigger Alzheimer’s symptoms such as memory loss, amyloid plaques, and tau tangles. The study revealed that Alzheimer’s patients had lower lithium levels in affected brain regions, which worsened as the disease progressed.
The research also highlighted that while the commonly used lithium carbonate form is trapped by amyloid plaques, lithium orotate can bypass this barrier, reverse brain damage, and restore memory in mice. Lead author Professor Bruce Yankner stated, “This approach targets all the core pathologies of Alzheimer’s. If similar results are achieved in humans, this could be a major breakthrough.”
Potential to Reverse Alzheimer’s
Current treatments on the market can only slow the progression of Alzheimer’s. However, these new findings suggest that lithium could not only halt but potentially reverse the disease.
