Afghanistan Freedom Front Rejects UNAMA Report on Civilian Casualties

Kokcha News Agency: The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has rejected a recent report by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) that attributed civilian injuries to explosions in Mazar-i-Sharif to their operations.

The AFF described the report as “inaccurate” and emphasized that the events mentioned are unrelated to their activities.

Dawood Naji, the head of the AFF’s political committee, stated on his X (formerly Twitter) account that the AFF is committed to the “laws of war, the protection of civilians, and the safeguarding of public facilities.”

He also suggested that the “fear and censorship” imposed by the Taliban could lead to the “distortion of facts.”

In its latest report covering the period from April to June, UNAMA documented several incidents in Mazar-i-Sharif, including explosions caused by landmines.

According to UNAMA, on April 7, an explosion involving a rickshaw injured three men, and the AFF claimed responsibility for the attack. On April 9, a similar explosion injured four men, and the AFF was also blamed. On April 14, another explosion killed one civilian and injured ten, but no group claimed responsibility.

The AFF is one of the opposition groups that emerged after the Taliban’s return to power in 2021 and has been conducting armed operations against Taliban forces in parts of Afghanistan.
