UN Warns: One Million Women and Girls at Risk of Mass Starvation in Gaza

Gaza is on the brink of the largest mass massacre in modern history, with 2.4 million people, including 1.1 million children, facing starvation and genocide

“Kokcha News Agency” – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has issued a stark warning about the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, stating that one million women and girls are at risk of mass starvation. The agency highlighted the severe impact of Israel’s blockade and relentless attacks on the Gaza Strip.

In a statement posted on the social media platform of US-based company X, UNRWA said, “One million women and girls are at risk of mass starvation. Women and girls in Gaza are resorting to extreme survival methods, such as venturing out to find food and water, which carries significant risks to their lives.”

The statement called on the international community to lift the blockade on Gaza and ensure large-scale humanitarian aid reaches those in need. It noted, “Gaza is experiencing one of the worst humanitarian crises in its history. Famine conditions and Israel’s genocidal attacks are intertwined. Since March 2, Israel has closed all border crossings, blocking the entry of humanitarian aid. The limited aid that is allowed falls far short of meeting the basic needs of starving Palestinians.”

The Gaza Health Ministry reported that the number of Palestinians who have died from hunger and malnutrition since October 7, 2023, has risen to 251, including 108 children.

Israel has blocked all crossings into Gaza since March 2, severely restricting the entry of humanitarian aid and allowing only limited supplies. This has created a severe risk of starvation for Gaza’s population of approximately 2.4 million.

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has also reported that one-third of Gaza’s population has gone days without food.
