Peace and Justice Movement Welcomes Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Stance on Inclusive Government in Afghanistan

The Peace and Justice Movement has welcomed the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s (SCO) position on the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan, calling it "measured, forward-looking, and just."

Kokcha News Agency – The Peace and Justice Movement, a group comprising several political figures and former officials of the previous Afghan government, including Mohammad Hanif Atmar, Masoom Stanekzai, Shaker Kargar, Jalil Shams, Nisar Ahmad Ghoryani, and Mubarez Rashidi, issued a statement on Thursday expressing support for the SCO’s recent declaration on Afghanistan.

The SCO, during its meeting in Tianjin, China, on Monday, emphasized the need for the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan with the participation of representatives from all ethnic and political groups. The organization described this as the only path to achieving lasting peace and stability in the country. In its final statement, the SCO also stressed “the necessity of forming an independent, neutral, terrorism-free, war-free, and drug-free government in Afghanistan.”

The Peace and Justice Movement praised the SCO’s stance as “measured, forward-looking, and just,” adding that “the continuation of such regional and international approaches could pave the way for strengthening stability, realizing the fundamental rights and freedoms of the people, social justice, and the establishment of lasting peace in Afghanistan.”

The movement also called on SCO members to facilitate and initiate intra-Afghan dialogues, urging them to take practical steps toward the formation of an inclusive and just government in Afghanistan.
