Scale of Destruction in Hospitals Revealed as Israel Withdraws from Gaza
Following the ceasefire agreement, the extent of destruction in hospitals in areas where the Israeli army has withdrawn has been revealed, highlighting the systematic targeting of Gaza’s healthcare system.
Kokcha News Agency – As the Israeli army withdraws from parts of Gaza following the ceasefire, the massive destruction in hospitals has come to light. Since October 8, 2023, Israel has systematically targeted Gaza’s healthcare system, resulting in the destruction of 38 hospitals and rendering them inoperable.
One of the hospitals heavily damaged is the Palestine-Turkey Friendship Hospital, built by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) between 2011 and 2017. Located in the Netzarim Corridor, which divides Gaza into north and south, the hospital was Gaza’s only oncology center. The Israeli army used the hospital as a military base and later targeted it with explosives on March 21, 2025, claiming it was being used for “military purposes.”
Another hospital, the Rantisi Children’s Hospital, which specialized in oncology, dialysis, respiratory, and digestive diseases, was also severely damaged. The hospital was last targeted on September 17, 2025, during Israel’s attacks aimed at forcing Palestinians in Gaza City to move south.
The ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas, brokered by Egypt, came into effect on October 10, 2023. Following the agreement, the Israeli army withdrew from designated areas, and the ceasefire officially began at 12:00 PM on the same day.
During the period from October 8, 2023, until the ceasefire, Israeli attacks in Gaza resulted in the deaths of 67,682 people and injured 170,033 others.
