Al-Qassam Brigades: We Will Adhere to the Agreement as Long as Israel Does

Kokcha News Agency – The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, released a statement affirming their commitment to the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement as long as Israel upholds its end of the deal. The statement emphasized that the agreement is a result of the steadfastness and resistance of the Palestinian people.

The statement declared, “As long as the enemy adheres to the agreement, we will adhere to it and follow the agreed-upon timeline.” It also highlighted that despite Israel’s military strength and intelligence capabilities, it could not reclaim its prisoners through force alone. “Now, as promised from the very beginning of the resistance, the enemy is bowing and reclaiming its prisoners through a swap deal,” the statement added.

The ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement, brokered by Egypt, was announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on October 9. The agreement came into effect in the early hours of October 10, following approval by the Israeli government. The Israeli army’s withdrawal from the “yellow line” as stipulated in the agreement led to the ceasefire taking effect in the Gaza Strip at 12:00 PM on the same day.

From October 8, 2023, until the ceasefire agreement, Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip resulted in the deaths of 67,682 people and injured 170,033 others.
