US: Agreement with Houthis Remains Valid Despite Recent Attacks

A U.S. official confirmed that the ongoing agreement with the Houthis regarding the safety of American ships is still in place, despite recent attacks attributed to the group.

Kokcha News Agency reports that a senior U.S. government official reaffirmed that the United States’ agreement with the Houthis remains intact, specifically concerning the freedom of navigation for American vessels. The official clarified that, although Houthis have conducted recent attacks, these did not target U.S. ships directly but were aimed at vessels associated with Israel.

The official further announced that the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Winson will leave the Middle East region within the next two days, while the carrier USS Nimitz will continue to operate in the area. This strategic maneuver is related to ongoing tensions but does not affect the fundamental agreement with the Houthis, emphasizing that diplomatic and security commitments are still being upheld.

The reaffirmation underscores that despite provocations, the U.S. maintains its position of engaging with the Houthis on critical maritime issues, and the health of the agreement remains unaffected by recent regional incidents.
