Maria Ruslyakova, a Russian gymnast, made history by becoming the first athlete to perform a rhythmic gymnastics routine at the North Pole, setting a world record in the process.
Kokcha News Agency – On July 7, Russian gymnast Maria Ruslyakova achieved a historic milestone by performing a rhythmic gymnastics routine at the North Pole, making her the first athlete ever to do so. Ruslyakova executed her routine with a ribbon, ball, and hoop on a specially designed mat at the convergence of the meridians—90 degrees north latitude.
Despite the freezing temperatures, which hovered around zero degrees Celsius, Ruslyakova donned a classic gymnastics outfit and flawlessly performed her routine. The project was orchestrated by her coach, Anna Polonina, who supported the athlete in this groundbreaking endeavor.
