Cambridge Dictionary Adds New Words: Skibidi, Delulu, Tradwife
The Cambridge Dictionary has announced it will add over 6,000 new words this year, including social media favorites like "skibidi," "delulu," and "tradwife," reflecting the impact of internet culture on the English language.

Kokcha News Agency – The Cambridge Dictionary, based in the UK, is set to include over 6,000 new words this year, with terms like “skibidi,” “delulu,” “tradwife,” and “broligarchy” making the cut. These words, which have gained popularity through social media, are now being recognized as part of the evolving English language.
Colin McIntosh, the dictionary’s language program manager, stated, “Internet culture is changing English. Words like ‘skibidi’ and ‘delulu’ are not just passing trends; we believe they are here to stay.”
According to the dictionary, “skibidi” is a word coined by the creator of a viral animation series on social media. It can mean “cool” or “bad,” or be used in a completely nonsensical, joking manner.
“Tradwife,” short for “traditional wife,” refers to conservative women who advocate for homemaking, child-rearing, and devotion to their husbands, often sharing their lifestyle on social media.
The post-Covid remote work culture has introduced “mouse jiggler,” a device that keeps a computer mouse moving to appear active, and “work spouse,” a term for close colleagues who trust and support each other in the workplace.
Additionally, “broligarchy,” a blend of “bro” and “oligarchy,” has been added to describe groups of wealthy and influential men in the tech industry, such as Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Mark Zuckerberg.
“Delulu,” a shortened form of “delusional,” originally used to mock K-pop fans, now describes someone with unrealistic beliefs.
