Sultans of the Net Reach First-Ever World Championship Final

The Turkish Women's National Volleyball Team, known as the "Sultans of the Net," made history by reaching their first-ever FIVB World Championship final after defeating Japan 3-1.

Kokcha News Agency- The Turkish Women’s National Volleyball Team, affectionately called the “Sultans of the Net,” achieved a historic milestone by advancing to the final of the 2025 FIVB World Championship for the first time. They secured their spot by defeating Japan in a thrilling 3-1 match (16-25, 25-17, 25-18, 27-25).

The match began with a balanced start, but Japan took control of the first set, winning 25-16. Turkey, however, bounced back strongly in the second set, led by Melissa Vargas and Eda Erdem Dündar, to win 25-17 and level the match.

In the third set, Turkey maintained their momentum, securing a 25-18 victory to take a 2-1 lead. The fourth set was a nail-biter, with both teams battling fiercely. Turkey ultimately clinched the set 27-25, sealing their historic win and a place in the final.

The Sultans of the Net will now face the winner of the Italy-Brazil match in the final, scheduled to take place tomorrow at 15:30 local time.

Youth and Sports Minister Osman Aşkın Bak congratulated the team on social media, stating, “We are making history, history… I congratulate the Sultans of the Net for reaching the World Championship final.”
